Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect from my first session?

Your first Pilates session may feel intimidating, but we’re here to help. Sessions last 50–55 minutes, beginning with a discussion about any injuries, limitations, and goals. Your instructor will then tailor the workout to your needs, selecting the appropriate Pilates equipment, which uses adjustable springs to provide support or resistance. The session will go by quickly, and you may not remember every movement or exercise name—that’s okay! Your instructor will guide you with cues throughout to ensure a well-structured, effective session.

What should I wear?

There is no strict dress code—comfort is key. We recommend form-fitting attire to help instructors assess your alignment and movement while also preventing clothing from getting caught in the equipment. Avoid clothing with zippers, as they can snag on the apparatus. Many women opt for leggings and a fitted top, while men typically wear gym shorts and a t-shirt. Consider what you’d feel secure wearing if your workout involved being upside-down.

Our studio is primarily barefoot, though Pilates/Yoga socks are welcome. If you need guidance on attire, our instructors are happy to help. For those concerned about hygiene, rest assured that all equipment and mats are thoroughly cleaned between each client.

Who can participate in Pilates and Yoga?

Pilates and Yoga are suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. Whether you’re confident in your abilities or just starting out, we’re here to meet you wherever you are on your fitness journey. Pilates is a safe and effective option for everyone.

What if I’m pregnant?

Yes, you can still participate in sessions. Instructors are trained and will give modifications throughout session based on where you are in your pregnancy.

What if I am injured or recovering from an injury?

Yes, our instructors are well-equipped to modify sessions to meet your needs. Whether you’ve been recommended to take private sessions for a more tailored experience or simply need modifications during group classes to support your recovery, we’re here to ensure you can participate safely

Why is Pilates instruction so expensive?

The training, equipment and class size are three of the primary reasons Pilates is often more expensive on the front end than other workout options. Our classes are intentionally small to ensure attention and focus on your form, modifying for special concerns, and an environment where you can focus on your body.

How many times a week should I be doing Pilates?

We recommend attending 2-3 times per week for consistency and maximum benefit. However, we understand that time constraints or other workout routines may limit you to once per week. Even at that frequency, Pilates can be highly beneficial as a complement to other workouts, helping to improve mobility through a greater range of motion and enhancing body awareness.
